Introduction:
This analyzer shelter was designed for gas analysis in an industrial setting. The shelter is located within a classified area environment with classified area gases within the building. Tight temperature control is required for the equipment within the building with additional air changes per hour if a high gas condition exists to ventilate the building of the gases. HVAC shutdown contacts are provided if a high-high gas condition occurs.
Primary Design Considerations:
- Maintain indoor air temperature throughout yearly ambient conditions ranging from -45°C to 35°C ambient.
- Maintain clean filtered air in an industrial setting.
- Provided increased air changes within the building if a high gas condition occurs.
- Provided robust industrial HVAC equipment for a harsh environment.
Solution and Equipment provided:

- A Specific Systems INPAC classified area HVAC unit was selected to maintain air temperature, building pressure and filter incoming air to the analyzer shelter.
- The unit is designed with redundant fans, motorized fail closed dampers, user selectable temperature setpoint and damper position, coatings on all copper and coils, explosion proof heat and electrical components.
- Intrinsically safe relays are used to ensure high gas and high-high gas conditions are dealt with per NFPA requirements for the building.
